Siri or Iris or whatever... is it really what we want?

iPhone introduced Siri, the personal assistant in 4s.
But I have a different view to what a personal device like phone/tablet should do.

One can not expect to see 5 people sitting in an office, talking to their phones and telling it to send sms or call someone or search something or even schedule a meeting between each other.

Voice input has too many limitations to be actually considered as viable option for the personal devices to evolve.

What should be looked at is artificial intelligence. What if your phone "knew" what you want to do?
It will pop up few options and within say 2-3 touches/gestures/clicks you could do what you really wanted.

There should be predefined work flows with ability to customize them, but the phone should know what you want it to do. Now that is something awesome isn't it ?

I have tried everything but ....

I have so many people around me who are still in this phase " I have tried everything but my body does not respond, my weight does not decrease !!" .... so I felt like writing this ....

Well here are three simple truths:
1. If you are still fat then it means you are not trying enough !
2. If you think you exercise a lot and still you are fat then it means you don't exercise enough !
3. If you think you don't eat fatty/junk food at all and still you are fat it means you don't follow the diet honestly!

Reducing weight, the right way, needs a lot of determination and self-control.
Believe me, your tongue and your stomach have a mind of their own !! ;)

So stop convincing yourself that you might be a special case or its due to some hormonal changes (in some cases, yes!) or you are born this way !
Unless your doctor tells you a good medically valid reason as to why you are still fat ... the only thing you should blame for your obesity is you!

Cut the excuses.. don't stop until you are fit and healthy :)

Oh you might wonder , what gives me the right to talk about this? Well I lost 14.5 Kg.s. in 1.5 years with diet and exercise. I was 80 K.g.s and came down to 66/65.5 K.g.s.

Two galaxies .. one awesome picture !!

This dramatic look at Arp 273 shows the very photogenic group of interacting galaxies that glow bright with intense star formation, perhaps triggered by a little carousing the two galaxies are doing with each other as they approach and interact.

Arp 273 lies in the constellation Andromeda and is roughly 300 million light-years away from Earth. The image shows a tenuous tidal bridge of material between the two galaxies that are actually separated by tens of thousands of light-years from each other. But still, the gravitational pull between the two is causing distortions: visible in the larger of the spiral galaxies, known as UGC 1810, is a distorted disc. The swathe of blue stars across the top is the combined light from clusters of intensely bright and hot young stars.

End of an era ...!

I came to office early morning as usual, switched on the laptop. Looked around the wing, only to find the usual few faces arriving or busy setting up for the day ahead.

I logged in, checked my mails and the usual, only to face the brutal reality. Now I am alone! Alone while having the morning tea, while having lunch, taking the much needed afternoon walk, quite truly alone in my office life ahead.

I remember joining this startup which lured me with the most attractive offer, “offer I could not refuse”, and was told that the only other developer besides me has already started contributing.

Very first day I was introduced to him and quite frankly I was speechless. There was this kid, with long unkept hair with a heart melting smile, who greeted me in a strong south Indian accent. Coming from all “Marathi” friend circle and culture, I was not sure how would I get along with a guy who doesn’t understand anything except Tamil and English (yeah a little bit of Hindi). I mean I am not bad at communicating in English, but I believe some feelings are always best expressed in your native language. Well, I smiled back and went along with my work to get settled in the new office environment.

As days flew by, I realized we had a lot in common. We both shared a passion for technology, learning new things and doing the job at hand as well as we could. We had the same taste in music, movies, science etc.

I remember how we both tried clicking through Google ad words and ads on weird looking pay per click sites. Tried out our writing skills on enticing pay per review sites, not for the money but I believe as an experience.(I can say that because I know for sure none of us made any money hehe)

We shared our entire office life with each other. Right from what we felt about the management to what strategy would help us win in the annual cyber city cricket tournament. The language was no longer a barrier!

All through these years, he is the only friend I made in office, with whom I could connect beyond the usual office stuff.

But from this morning, everything has changed. The change is good and wonderful for him, but for me it’s more towards emptiness.

And I know that this morning tea at desk is just the beginning!

Anti matter gets produced during a thunderstorm

Scientists using NASA’s Fermi Gamma-ray Space Telescope have detected beams of antimatter produced above thunderstorms on Earth, a phenomenon never seen before.

Scientists think the antimatter particles were formed in a terrestrial gamma-ray flash (TGF), a brief burst produced inside thunderstorms and shown to be associated with lightning. It is estimated that about 500 TGFs occur daily worldwide, but most go undetected.

So thunderstorms are not only about the roar and thunder, but also about anti-matter creation, am sure this will change the way you look at a thunderstorm from now on !!

Wi-Fi direct ... end of bluetooth ??

When you try to connect two devices in a local wireless network, you usually have to choose between speed (Wi-Fi) or ease of connectivity (Bluetooth).

But the Wi-Fi alliance has launched Wi-Fi Direct, which combines both advantages into one technology…

Wi-Fi offers plenty of bandwidth but you need to have a wireless network set up wherever you need to connect the devices (so a router is a must).

That’s not always desirable, sometimes even impossible. Wi-Fi Direct, as the name suggests, makes a direct connection between two (or more) devices with no middleman required.

Connecting two devices would be as simple as pressing a button. All Direct communications are secured by WPA2, so the ease of connecting doesn’t mean lack of security.

Wi-Fi Direct works with 802.11b/g/n and supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz – there won’t be a shortage of bandwidth.

Many Wi-Fi Direct devices will also be able to connect to several other devices at once – for example,

a laptop can push a video to the TV while syncing with your mobile phone, all over Direct and with no router required !!!!!

I was reading about warp speed and its possibility.. and theories and models... :)

I wondered, what a time to be born in .. Although the energy costs are mind boggling and there is no practical model present of a warp drive or anything, just the thought of a warp drive gets you goose bumps !

What if we could travel faster than speed of light, oh man .. personally, I have so many places I would like to visit ... lol ... get out of milky way and see how it looks from a distance, get as close as possible to a pulsar ... visit the exo-planet with maximum possibility of hosting life !

I wish I get to be born again, when humans will find a way to travel at warp speeds.... !!

Terror attack in Pune ... !

Yesterday Feb 13th 2010, Pune was stunned with a terror attack ! There was a bomb blast in Koregaon park area, in German Bakery.

I was born in Pune, 30 years ago, and since then I've seen Pune going from the peaceful, serene place to a buzzing, crowded , un-organised big town. Incompetent politicians whom Punekars voted, made this "pensioner's town" the crowded, dirty place it has become!

I still remember, after 8:30 pm, it used to go all quiet, even on the busiest of roads, J.M.Road, in Pune. Now the noise never dies out. The streets always have rickshaws, noisy buses running all the time.

But still however it grew, it never had terrorism on its plate. Pune still was a safe place.

But yesterday when more than 10% of the police force was busy making sure a pathetic Shah rukh khan movie gets released, the deadly terrorists were happy to oblige and give Pune its one of the most shocking terror bomb blast.

Now, Puneiets feel it, Mumbai was 192 kms away, but Koregaon park is just a few kms from their home. Its one the so called "happening" place in Pune, where young college guys visit to get a glimpse of foreigners lured in by the "Osho culture".

Who's to blame? Who's responsible?

Mr Ashok Chavan, CM of Maharashtra, cleared to everyone asap, that giving protection to SRK and his movie, can not be blamed for this. If it wasn't then why did you feel the need to clarify Mr. CM?

Democracy, I feel, takes away accountability. Who is blamed for killing of jews? the germans or hitler? Hitler isnt he? well , who is blamed by Afganistan or Palestine for all their troubles? US or Israel. So there is no clear accountability! Everyone is responsible, but how can you punish everyone?

No, I am not saying we should change our political system and accept a dictator.

I am saying that there should be a "National Accountability Act".

If there is a terror bomb blasts in your state, the CM and Home minister must step down and they will not be allowed to contest for any election for next 10 years.

If there is a price rise which is unreasonable, the Agriculture minister must step down and should not be allowed to contest for any election for next 10 years.

I don't know, something like that. But there has to be accountability to the posts that are held by these politicians. When everything that happens in the country will make a difference in their lives then only they will be more responsible and rational.

As for this blast, all we can do is condemn it, just like the people who are responsible to take action against it, condemn it.

This might sound pessimistic but Maharashtra state is on the way down and its high time that something is done to stop it !!

Nasa unveils personal aircraft - Puffin!

This is a one man aircraft (experimental) which is electrically propelled.

According to Scientific American, the 3.7-meter-long, 4.1-meter-wingspan craft is designed with lightweight carbon-fiber composites to weigh in at 135 kilograms (not including 45 kilograms of rechargeable lithium phosphate batteries.) The Puffin can cruise at 240 kilometers per hour, but for those high speed chases, can zoom at more than 480 kph. See video below.

The newest element on the periodic table will likely be named in honor of scientist and astronomer Nicolaus Copernicus. Element 112 will be named Copernicum, with the element symbol "Cp."

Thirteen years ago, element 112 was discovered by an international team of scientists at the GSI Helmholtzzentrum für Schwerionenforschung (Center for Heavy Ion Research) in Darmstadt, Germany.

The element is produced by a nuclear fusion, when bombarding zinc ions onto a lead target. As the element already decays after a split second, its existence can only be proved with the help of extremely fast and sensitive analysis methods. Twenty-one scientists from Germany, Finland, Russia and Slovakia have been involved in the experiments that led to the discovery of element 112.

Since 1981, GSI accelerator experiments have yielded the discovery of six chemical elements, which carry the atomic numbers 107 to 112. The discovering teams at GSI already named five of them: element 107 is called bohrium, element 108, hassium; element 109, meitnerium; element 110, darmstadtium; and element 111 is named roentgenium

Seriously, I don't think we should stare at this too long … but for scientists who plan to, this new, high-resolution view of a sunspot stands to unlock secrets of the Sun's mysterious energetics.

In the just-released image above, the interface between a sunspot's umbra (dark center) and penumbra (lighter outer region) shows a complex structure with narrow, almost horizontal (lighter to white) filaments embedded in a background having a more vertical (darker to black) magnetic field. Farther out, extended patches of horizontal field dominate. For the first time, scientists have modeled this complex structure in a comprehensive 3D computer simulation, giving scientists their first glimpse below the visible surface.

Opera has made me shift my browser again ... now I use Opera 10.0 Beta(Unite).

Its amazing look and feel is not the only reason though. It was always faster than all of the web browsers but somehow, some of the sites would not open properly in it. Somehow Chrome stole its thunder, but now Opera is back with cool features and amazing additions.

Opera Unite is a beta feature which they have come up with. Currently with file sharing, media player, lounge , fridge and some other services, its a very promising product.

This spectacular GRB was seen 13 billion years away, with a redshift of 8.2, which is the highest red shift ever measured.

This object is now the most distant known objext and the burst occured when the Universe was only 630 million years old. This object or event is called GRB 090423.

Finally...Vettori realises that its better to stop now...

The Indian team came back strongly in the second test against NZ in Napier and the hero is Gautam Gambhir!

He batted for 642 minutes facing 436 balls scoring 137 runs.... awesome isnt it?

After India were bowled out for 305 in the first innings, it was foolish of Vettori to think that with 314 runs behind he would again bowl the Indians out!

I thought he was a clever captain but he made a blunder. If you look at Indian innings, Dravid (83), Tendulkar(49) and Laxman(76), were in good touch and made silly mistakes to get out.

You cant count on players making the same mistake and getting out again, in the same day !!

Its foolish to think that way, you dont have shane warne and Mcgrath on your side that you challenge such a strong batting side, to show their strength... its stupidity.

Gautam Gambhir came looking like he had a point to prove, and he did. Vettori has only himself to blame for this. I think India is on a way to a series win here...

On December 31, 2008 a “Leap second” will be added to the world’s clocks at 23 hours, 59 minutes and 59 seconds Coordinated Universal Time (UTC).

Historically, time was based on the mean rotation of the earth relative to celestial bodies and the second was defined in this reference frame. However, the invention of atomic clocks defined a much more precise “atomic time” scale and a second that is independent of the earth’s rotation. In 1970, an international agreement established two timescales: one based on the rotation of the earth and one based on atomic time.

Atomic clocks do not use radioactivity, but they use the exact frequency of the microwave spectral line emitted by atoms of the element cesium, in particular its isotope of atomic weight 133 ("Cs-133"). The integral of frequency is time, so this frequency, 9,192,631,770 hertz (Hz = cycles/second), and this provides the fundamental unit of time, which are measured by cesium clocks.The problem is that the earth’s rotation is very gradually slowing down, which necessitates the periodic insertion of a “leap second” into the atomic timescale to keep the two within 1 second of each other. The International Earth Rotation and Reference Systems Service (IERS) is the organization which monitors the difference in the two timescales and calls for leap seconds to be inserted or removed when necessary.

Trees in danger !

Recent study has revealed that modern day concentrations of ground level ozone pollution are decreasing the growth of trees in the northern and temperate mid-latitudes. The study claims that tree growth, measured in biomass, is already 7% less than the late 1800s, and this is set to increase to a 17% reduction by the end of the century.

So beyond the consequences of global warming we also need to worry about ozone pollution!

I guess in all circumstances the best thing to do is plant more trees....

I intend to start a social group which just starts planting trees wherever possible... maybe contribute ourselves or get funding from some company/organisation ...

Earth and Sun get connected !

Scientists have discovered a magnetic portal which connects the Earth and the Sun, 93 million miles away ! Tonnes of electromagnetic particles may flow through this portal before it closes.

This is called FTE, flux transfer event.

Researchers have long known that the Earth and sun must be connected. Earth's magnetosphere (the magnetic bubble that surrounds our planet) is filled with particles from the sun that arrive via the solar wind and penetrate the planet's magnetic defenses. They enter by following magnetic field lines that can be traced from terra firma all the way back to the sun's atmosphere.

The FTEs are predicted to be of two types Active and Passive. On the dayside of Earth (the side closest to the sun), Earth's magnetic field presses against the sun's magnetic field. Approximately every eight minutes, the two fields briefly merge or "reconnect," forming a portal through which particles can flow. The portal takes the form of a magnetic cylinder about as wide as Earth.

The European Space Agency's fleet of four Cluster spacecraft and NASA's five THEMIS probes have flown through and surrounded these cylinders, measuring their dimensions and sensing the particles that shoot through.

There are many unanswered questions: Why do the portals form every 8 minutes? How do magnetic fields inside the cylinder twist and coil?

Meanwhile, high above your head, a new portal is opening, connecting our planet to the sun !

MNS - Raj Thakrey

Yesterday night, MNS leader Raj Thakrey was arrested in Ratnagiri.

I think the arrest just brought him more popularity in Maharshtra and the CM,Wilasrao Deshmukh, once again became the villain.

I think, Wilasrao actually was played perfectly by Raj, he had no choice but to arrest him and Raj would have benifited in any situation. The only solution was preventive rather than corrective. Had Wilasrao been able to guess what Raj is upto this could've been in his favour.

However, I think, MNS should change its strategy a little bit.

In given situation, people,media, the whole world in fact, is finding ways to differentiate between terrorists and non- terrorists. And voilence of any kind, will be termed as an act of terrorism.

Raj Thakrey must find a way to have the same impact without being termed as terrorist.

I had posted long back, that Shiv Sena should be deemed as a terrorist organisation. I would not like to repeat the same post with MNS in the title.

For e.g. MNS supporters could have stood in front of the door in the railway exam hall and asked to stop the exam or asked the students to leave before anyone gets hurt. That way MNS would not have gained the opposition of those students and general public.

MNS as a whole needs to formulate a strategy to get out of this "terrorism" charge, before they get in the ranks of SIMI or Indian Mujahideen etc.

Chrome - google launches its browser !

Google launches its browser called "Chrome"
The idea or concept behind it is shown here .

The browser I think will be used in their mobiles which they will launch soon.

This is what they have mentioned on the official google blog:

Lets see if its any better than Safari, which I think was just a self proclaimed wonder, which failed to impress.

Apple iPhone 3G limitations

Here are some drawbacks / Limitations of the new iPhone launched in India. I think you should go over these before you buy the ridiculously costly iPhone.

1. You can only sync music and video through iTunes. Want to drag-and-drop content from your hard-drive? Would like to sync music from another store -- from Amazon, for example? You are out of luck.

2. You can only install apps through iTunes. Never before has a cellphone maker slammed the door to an open development enviornment and received nothing but praise for doing so.

3. Apple deletes useful applications. Nullriver's modem app went to the grave with no reason stated. Apple's digital business is dependent on the music and movie industry's whims. How long before the industry dictates which applications we can run?

4. Apple might not accept apps which might be detrimental to its own business. We won't hold our breath for competitive products to appear on the iPhone anytime soon.

5. You can only run one third-party application at a time. An instant messenger that runs in the background and collects messages while you are away? Not happening.

6. Apple might not allow app vendors to open up their apps. The terms of the NDA that potential application developers for the iPhone need to sign, effectively restrict redistribution of the source. Apple has created OSX on the back of FreeBSD; Safari on KHTML, SproutCore library used in MobileMe, and now they have built a layer on top that excludes others.

7. Limited Bluetooth use. The iPhone 3G has Bluetooth 2.0 with EDR but can you transfer files over Bluetooth? Does it support A2DP? Stereo Bluetooth? No on all counts. As of now, all you get from Bluetooth are headset voice calls, and that's it.

8. No copy-paste. This might be more of an interface issue that Apple is seeking to solve, than anything else. But it only underlines the drawbacks of a walled garden. If development was as open as say, it is on the Palm platform -- you would have a hundred different solutions by now, and at least one you could actually use. This also underlines how much the innovative spirit is killed by a controlled development environment. The iPhone ecosystem doesn't encourage software tinkering and probably won't spur garage breakthroughs that drive the industry forward.

9. No MMS. While you can e-mail photos, multimedia messaging is absent from the device. And speaking of videos...

10. No video recording. In the world of YouTube, the iPhone 3G does not offer video recording.

Frankly, this phone is no good for the current price !!

Poor show Akhil Kumar !!!

Just saw the boxing match where Akhil Kumar (India) fought with Veaceslay Gojan (Moldova).... and it was a poor show by the over optimistic Akhil Kumar.

In the first two rounds both of them scored 1 points each making it 2-2 tally.
In third round, there was no change in strategy by Akhil Kumar, he went at Veaceslay, all out with both hands down and trying to get an opening....wait a minute, wasnt this the same strategy for the first two rounds ??...
Veaceslay Gojan scored successive 4 points in this round (3rd) and in return Akhil danced around and threw wild punches at him, which was way too easy for Veaceslay Gojan to dodge !
As a typical Indian sports person, Akhil was totally confused and baffled in the 4th round and lost the match 10-3

Akhil fought well in the previous match against the world champion... he had a plan.
But in this match the plan was? ...umm... yeah... I think ... just throw punches at the other guy !! What kind of strategy is this??.... it was really a poor show by a boxer with a lot of potential !

Moral of the story : Never make statements like "I will win a gold", unless you are Michael Phelps !!

Google has come up with another interesting site, its called Knol.
Its more like Wiki but with some different flavours. There are anonymous posts allowed, it has publishing tools similar to blogs, but unlike blogs Knol wants you to write specific to one topic at a time.

Unlike Wiki, the content, they claim right now, will not be edited behind the scenes. It relies on users to notify the objectionable content.

The Dark Knight

I saw the new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, yesterday ....
I think this is the best of all Batman movies ever.
The special effects are now a common trait of hollywood movies, but this one has a special special effect, the half burnt face of "Two face" Harvey Dent. That was really unbelievable...!!

Heath Ledger, has done a wonderful job. Though he has carried a lot of mannerisms of previous Joker played by Jack Nicholson, but that has added more to the character.
Batman has always been my favourite superhero and this movie just made me an even bigger fan of that character ..lol...

The only thing bad about this movie is Maggie Gyllenhaal who plays Rachel.... she is ugly !!
seriously, you look away from the screen cuz there is a closeup of this women .... how the hell can you have some ugly girl in a movie???... some ppl have such luck !!!

But other than that , definitely worth watching atleast 2-3 times....the motorcycle he rides near the end is just awesome... the way it climbs the wall and flips ...wow.. that was impressive... :)

Worlds first movie of black hole, captured by smallest telescope !

On 19th March 2008, "Pi of the Sky" telescope detected the brightest ever optical outburst from a distant universe. The explosion happened 7.5 billion light years from the Earth, halfway across the visible Universe. The telescope is only 71 mm in diameter.

The outburst known as GRB 080319B was probably the death of a massive star leading to the creation of a black hole. For the first time the birth of a black hole has been filmed. Cameras of the "Pi of the Sky" project recorded this remarkable event with a 4-minute sequence of 10-second-long images. In almost 20 seconds the object became so bright that it could be visible with the naked eye. Then it began fading and in 4 minutes it became 100 times fainter. At that time the observation was taken over by larger telescopes.

Adrenaline junkie !?

Recently I have realised that everyday coming to office and going back isnt just about commuting... I tend to speed, cut through traffic, sometimes indulge in rash driving... and I love it !!!!
I feel like, am now addicted to it. Day before yesterday I decided not to exceed 40 Kmph when coming to the office... and all through out the travel, I couldnt think of anything else but the speed limit... finally I broke that limit and crossed 80 kmph and phew, I felt relaxed !!

I had heard of adrenaline junkies, who risk their lives to get that adrenaline rush .... I think I have got a bit of that quality. Unless I dont drive at certain risky speed or cut through traffic fast and ruthlessly, I dont quite feel that the day has begun

Australia's 16th successive test victory

India lost the second test match at Sydney yesterday, making it the 16th straight test victory for Ricky Ponting's australian team.

Well, I said India lost, because Australia didnt actually win it.
Steve bucknor with his amazing decisions and Benson joining him at the right time for australia, made the game look like a Harry Potter movie, anything could have happened. Maybe Ponting diving ...the ball bumping on his head after he lands on the ground and the batsman in the picture given out .......... lbw !! ...lols...

I have always believed that australian team was good at the game but its clear that the half of its share goes to the umpires ! We must give credit to them as well...

What I wonder is, why Anil Kumble persisted with playing the match?
He should have gathered everyone from the team on the ground , clapped , and should have told Ricky " Well played mate, you win ! "... and should have come back home.

I was angry at first but as the play went into the second day, I was thoroughly enjoying it.
Benson and Bucknor gave a superb performance, acting highly thoughtful and logical when they were making those decisions, even the best of the actors (and politicians ;) ) in the world cant give such realistic live performance in front of so many cameras and the crowd.

How much did the umpires get for this performance? Hansie cronje would be weeping upstairs, wondering ,why he dint meet these guys before? ...lols... or maybe he did and maybe that explains the reason he is up there ;) ...

I strongly feel India should let the cry babies have their 17th, 18th, 19th whatever win and come back home, and prepare for the next series !!

The directorial debut of Aamir khan is really impressive. The movie is to the point, with perfect footage to every detail and the performances by the actors add the perfect finish to a very well made movie.
I got tears in my eyes watching the little boy being left alone in the boarding school.

The music is really very good, it brings out the feelings perfectly and set the mood, for the movie, right.

Aamir khan has created a masterpiece and I think this is one of the milestones of Indian cinema.
This movie is like the "must watch" one.

Darsheel safary is a genius !! He has portrayed Ishaan Awasthi to the perfection. In fact everything about this movie is perfect.

After the show got over, people gave a standing ovation and everyone was clapping. I have seen such a response from the people for "Lagaan", almost 6 yrs back.

Hats off to Aamir khan, he has not only directed the movie very well, but also has given another perfect acting performance. I think he is class apart from everyone in this film industry.

This definitely is the best movie of the year 2007 !

Universe Forgets its past !!

I recently came across an article about another description of universe..... "big bounce" !!

The theory is that , the present universe is amongst some of the universes being created time and again. Universe starts with a big bang, again collapses, and again undergoes big bang to create a new universe. It can be identical to its ancestor universe but it sure forgets all about it.
No trails or signs left ... this they term as "Big Bounce" ....

Loop Quantum Gravity is a theory which is trying to explore the above mentioned concept.
I am looking for more resources for its actual predictions and calculations, it is being claimed as one of the attempts to GUT.

Well ... if it turns out to be true, who knows in another 3 trillion years from now, I would be writing this same blog, without me knowing about this one !!

I was lying down yesterday looking at the blue sky and a thought came to my mind.
How many number of proofs I collect, preserve, present and claim everyday?

I get a wrong bill from my telephone company, I call them up and "prove" to them that I paid the bill, by looking at the proof which I preserved ... the reciept of bill payment !!

I go everyday to office, work for the whole day and end of the day , I write the "timesheet", a proof that I was there in the office !! Even while I enter the office I sign in or swap in or whtever just as a proof !!

We are born and first thing we get is "Birth certificate" , a proof that you are born !!

We are so much into this proof keeping habit that nowadays it happens involuntarily !!
..... you wanna bet?...

Driving in Pune....and in general !!

Today I lost my car Headlamp to yet another illiterate driver.

Driving has some rules, and norms to be followed. Not all places you can walk to , you can drive in. You may feel if I was on legs, I would have gone through the gap, but thats not necessarily be the case when you are on wheels !!

In India, we drive on the left side of the road. So we have some rules, which many of the drivers do not even care / know about. ..like:

1] Left turn has to be sharp and close whereas to take a right turn you should first cross half of the road and then take a right turn.

2] On a crossroad vehicle to your right has the first right to go.

3] When signal turns yellow, you should "Slow down" and make a perfect stop at the signal.

4] While driving a car, keep a distance from the car ahead, so that you always see its rear wheels.

5] Follow a single lane. If vehicle in front of you stops, you should stop. Turning sharply to enter different lane, is a "wrong" way to drive.

Speaking limited to my city, pune, I guess RTO should cancel the current licenses and make everyone go through a good scrutiny for their driving and then give out new licenses. This can be done as follows:
First cancel all licenses given 19 years back. that is in the year 1987. They will be given a 6 months time to give the test again and get a new license. Then after 6 months waiting period, cancel all licenses issued in year 1988 and so on and so forth.
This will take time but atleast after 10 years everyone in this city will be qualified drivers.
In the mean time, all agents should be banned.
We can also, have free lancer qualified "traffic supervisors". This will give employment opportunity as well as those who hate night shift BPO jobs but still want to earn money a great noble job.
These traffic supervisors, will observe lane cuts, signal cuts, triple seat drivers, drivers not obeying no entries and one way rules in even the deepest parts of the city.
These rules are not hard to understand, there is no catch and they all will be issued a camera to actually catch such drivers red handed.
All traffic supervisors will be treated as consultants with food,travel allowance.

Whatever it takes, drivers in Pune city must be taught discipline.

Every gadget that they dont understand , if broken, should get fixed on its own .
It should be a rule to keep both legs down on the ground while driving a two wheeler.
Everyone should ,all the time, watch all the signals/signs women give while they are driving.
Driving should be declared as an act of dancing.
All the elected members of parliament, members of national teams etc. should come and visit them so that they would know their names, what they do, and whom they represent !!
A purse which would recognise the object they desire to have and should pop it up like a toaster.
A mobile phone, which will adjust its ringtone according to their mood, which will lavitate itself when they no longer wish to hold it, which would make a call by identifying their desire to speak to that person.
The "Time" to pause itself when they are talking on the phone.
Men to grow up and women to remain innocent like a child !!
Pink, mauve, and colours like these to be officially named the principle colours.

Shiv Sena - A terrorist organization

Yesterday, 9th July 2006, it was claimed by Shiv sena that "Meenatai Thakray's" statue was vandalized by someone and the Shiv Sainiks immediately started riots and destruction....!!

First of all ... who is meenatai ??? What has she done in her life to be eligible for a statue?? Just because she was able to marry Baal thakray?? ( I wonder if that was a "Baal wiwah" )

Although it was claimed to be vandalized... Shiv Sena ppl washed it with milk and called it now purified !!
I think now it will be stinking and there wud be lot of bees buzzing around it...

On a serious note however, I find this a well planned event.
Event organized by Shiv sena to make aware of their existence. Within few hours shiv sainik were ready to come out on streets and start riots on a Sunday afternoon all over maharashtra. This has to be planned !!
Some statue in mumbai gets vandalized and people in Aurangabad, pune etc. feel bad about it ?? that’s some joke !

The solution demanded by shiv sena ? .. " well , govt. should catch those who have done this otherwise we will continue destroying public property "

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a legendary king. Having a political party using his name, is a very clever tactic. Balasaheb Thakrey noticed it and started a political party. With his flamboyant style, and his rather flippant comments, he attracted lot of attention. In due course of time, Shiv Sena achieved the position where they could form the state government.

Shivaji Maharaj had a purpose. He decided to re establish "Hindu" people. His war was against the Muslim invasion on "Maharashtra". He tried to establish a single governing power in Maharashtra which would be unbiased, and citizen friendly. Shivaji, used his own ways to first trouble, and then destroy the so called "Mughal Empire" in Maharashtra. He was successful to create fear and terror in Aurangjeb's heart. He countered every move made by Aurangjeb. Shivaji had a vision, he wanted to free the" Marathi " people from the pain and suffering.

Today, Shiv Sena claims that they wish to continue the battle. So called "Shiv Sainik" claim that they are ardent followers of Shivaji Maharaj. Are they really??
Shiv Sena is trying to impose its idealogies on people by any and every way possible. Their wierd ideas about Valentine's day and Indian Culture.
Shiv Sainik knows how to fight even if he doesnt know how to speak fluent and correct marathi.
Shiv Sainik dont think even once before they attack common citizen. I can quote many examples when Shiv Sainik attacked common citizen.

Shivaji Maharaj faught on battle field against Muslims. When Pakistani soldiers attacked Kargil, where were all the so called "Shiv Sainik" ?? I didnt see them on the "real" battle field. But when pakistan wanted to come and play cricket in India, all ShivSainik were present on WanKhede Stadium to dig up the pitch. Boy, these Sainiks are real Men !!

Now shiv sena has an illegitimate child called " Sambhaji Brigade", it is formed by a bunch of frustrated losers trying to vent out their frustrations by destroying public properties.

I strongly feel, that Shiv Sena, Sambhaji Brigade should be declared as "terrorist communities".

All famous lotharios and romeos loved their respectives for a selfish reason, to be loved back. Selfless,unconditional love DOES NOT exist ... It is a need and expectation of every person to be loved by someone rather than loving someone. That is why every one strives to receive back love.....!!

The word "God" is created by humans, the Symbol(Murti etc) is created by humans. The concept of someone more powerful than humans and more intelligent than humans imbibes humility and humbleness in humans hence was introduced in religions !
God as a super power, as energy, as anything intangible or incomprehensible , in itself denies its existence !Although our concepts of Existence are as per Human understanding etc etc....but thats all bullshit, for an ant humans exist and so does the universe, in da same way for every animal species, everything else exists and hence needs no special understanding to comprehend anyone's existence.
Existence of God, gives a feeling of security, support for ppl with weak mind.Those who cant digest the fact tht they are on their own, need tht support to delegate their tensions and worries on sumthing/sumone who will definitely help them !
So I dont belive in God because
1] Its a concept and not an entity
2] I dont need a concept to survive
3] I hate all current concepts of GOD in context with any religion

God as a concept or as a definition or as a deity, or even as a feeling, or binding is primarily a Belief !

Hope and belief can do wonders, as they energise the "vitality" in any human being, which gives him the courage to fight and survive. Earlier the "Gods" were based on the basic elements like earth,water,sun,air etc. thts because human brain understood his lack of control over them. Anything more powerful than you is always feared and hence pleased for securing better survival. Nature teaches us a thumb rule , Survival of fittest !

But even a fit person can be drowned, or struck by lightening, which means is helpless in front of something intangible !

Now when such a fit/powerful person realises his lack of strength, he tries to decieve others under his protection so that they wont leave him ! ...He tells them that even though he is powerless in front of such natural powers, he has a way of communication to reach them, and he calls them "Gods" ...!

Religion, mythology, "Veds" etc actually try and make ppl realise that they shudnt let their ego overcome themselves as there is sum1 above you who is looking after the weak and feeble. This creates an insecurity in the minds of so called "devilish" ppl , and evokes their "SadaSat Vivek Buddhi" or "Rational thinking " which eventually prevents them from commiting sins !!

Every religion has their own ideas abt heaven and hell , but 3 basic things are common to them all :

1] God is someone bigger than humans and controls the whole universe as he himself as created it !

2] Heaven is for souls who have done more good things and hell is for sinners

3] God is intangible, can not be comprehended unless you believe in him strongly, and do all the duties he has told upon us. He reviews all souls after they die or periodically.

If you see all these three points, they all ensure that the "mystery" about god is well kept !!Secondly, all da 3 statements provide security, assurance, and hope for ppl who are powerful, who are powerless, who have some power ...poor and rich ...dumb and deaf...healthy and sick...living and about die ....! Find a single person who wouldnt feel secured and relieved after believing in these 3 statements?

The basic purpose of God whther for real or as a concept is to provide security,hope for humans who dnt want to face everything for themselves.Then why not fate ? ...because fate is non reliable. Luck is non reliable but someone who is incharge of well being of human kind? ....yea sure, he will protect us all !!

So atheism discards the dependance on any concept and accept the fact that we came here alone and will have to survive on their own ...but that doesnt mean Atheists are non-believers !

...we believe in coincidence, luck, fate, and on ourselves.

Theist ppl on the other hand, believe in God first and then all the other things as per their choice ...

Belief is good till the point it is kept to tht level ...when it becomes worshiping ...its unhealthy ! When ppl start depending on god for their decisions, their thinking, then its not what is desired by the religion or mythology who started it all.

Believe in whatever you want but keep it to a level where the belief powers your thoughts and deeds and not dependancy !

I mean seriously ... ppl research about Baboons and put a conclusion saying " Baboons seek "comfort" when some other baboon from their family dies !! .... wht the heck ? who the hell funds such research projects?....wht good can anyone, possibly, take out from such a research ?????

statistics is such a tricky thing. Probability of having heads on an unbiased coin tossed up in the air, is 50% but even after tossing the coin 24000 times, one never gets 12000 heads ! why ? 'cuz the sample size was not exhaustive.... !!!

I strongly feel that Indian cricket team needs to be treated as any other production company.
If a batsman does not score more than 35 runs in any of consequetive 3 one dayers or 3 test innings, he should be thrown out. His come back will have a criteria that he should score atleast a century from 3 domestic cricket matches he plays.
If a bowler, does not get more than 3 wickets in any of consequetive 3 one dayers or 5 wickets in 3 test innings, then he should be thrown out.

Parthiv ( how can ny1 name is son "parthiv" is a mystery to me ! ) patel is gettin paid even if he is not playing....this is a mockery of all cricket fans !!

Duh ...mayb we shud have All India Cricket Fan Association (AICFA) which wud enforce such decisions on BCCI !!

and ofcorse Saurav Ganguly should stop making a monkey of himself and decide to retire !!
